Added value

With the help of hair recognition and analysis software, it is currently possible in a unique way throughtout the world to:

1. Fully examine of the entire scalp,

2. To achieve digitization, documentation, archiving,

3. Vastly increase the accuracy of surgical planning.

Perhaps the simplest explanation for the competitive advantage of the procedure is that, without any exaggeration, the current success of the operation and the existence (or lack) of patient confidence will depend on as a system we develop in the future, not only in Hungary, but at least in Europe. Currently, the unanimous opinionof  professional board for hair restoration, International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) is that in the case of FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) surgery, such a preliminary quantitative analysis (not just an estimate) would be urgently needed in order to make an accurate surgical planning.

In detail

The photos taken during the first consultation from the initial state, archived in the patients' documents, become objectively, quantitatively comparable with the results achieved during the subsequent treatment and surgery, clearly, broken down into hair follicle units, supported by numerical data, to prove the effectiveness of the chosen therapy later.

Based on the photos of the complete scalp, the program reconstructs the anatomical conditions of the scalp, recognizes the hair follicle units (grafts) one by one, and is able to determine:

1. the number of units on the entire scalp (this is critical during both hair restoration treatments and the surgical process),

2. Number of hairs per hair follicle, donor (d), recipient (r),

3. From all this you will calculate a so-called coverage value (covering efficiency of the given hair structure) (d, r),

4. Visual forecast (r),

5. Assistance during surgery, preliminary and live calculation and imaging (d, r).

In hair transplantation, we will be able to determine the exact number and quality of hair follicle units in the donor area (posterior nape) required for surgical planning. For each patient, a system calibrated to the character of their own hair at the beginning of the study provides an accurate number of grafts (how many hairs are contained from 1 to 5), density, and distribution based on the number of hairs in the hair follicle units. These parameters are essential during the surgery for implanted hair distribution in the final receiving area, in emphasis on optically shaping the hairline.

Based on the available data and using the extraction technique (appropriate pattern) used during surgery, it calculates the amount of total removable grafts from the donor area that won’t yet result in visible aesthetic deficit.

For the area affected by hair loss, the program can calculate the number of hair follicles / hairs per square centimeter by recognizing the grafts, and for the total bald area, the size of the area to be implanted, so the desired density is immediately numerically indicated in the program. Knowing the exact number of hair follicle units, several surgical plan can be made, suited to the patients ’ideas, and ultimately to our patients’ satisfaction.

Instead of the currently designed hairline drawn manually on the patient's scalp, digitally drawn in the system can also spectacularly present the planned and achievable aesthetic result to the patient. With the density set in the program, the final state can be visually represented (forecast), which is intended to help the patient make an easier decision.

Based on the patient's ideas and the number of grafts to be transplanted, taking into account the patient's ideas and professional possibilities, the system calculates and plans the distribution of the extracted grafts on the scalp to be the most aesthetically optimal after the healing period. These grafts are projected live’ in front of the operating physician using a high-resolution camera and motion tracking system continuously used during surgery, and during the removal phase, the grafts are individually marked on a screen with a color scale to ensure that the grafts that are removed. have been previously determined and are optimal for acheiving the most natural result during transplantation.

During the transplant phase, the camera and program will also help the clinician to indicate the intended location of the grafts live and quickly on the projector (according to the planned density and pattern) by signaling them in color (live’ during surgery).

During the operation, a special light source applied in parallel with the camera, scanning the upper layers of the skin on the scalp, allows the determination of the invisible course of the hairs in the skin, thus reducing the damage to the grafts and hairs during removal at the wrong angle with the drill.
